Introducing Barbara Collins
The Lord called Barbara to salvation and redeemed her as a nine-year-old girl and later called her to the ministry at a Southern Baptist conference. ‘I questioned Him because I had three, little boys at the time and knew my first responsibility was to them. In addition, He called me in a denomination that didn’t and still doesn’t accept women in ministry. Puzzled, I had no choice but to let Him work it out.’
Barbara received a B.B.A. from Southern Methodist University followed later on by a Th.B. and Th.M from Christian Life School of Theology with Beacon Bible College. “Outstanding Young Women of America” chose her to represent them followed later by “Who’s Who in America” and “Who’s Who in American Education.” After receiving His call to the ministry, Barbara prepared herself in the Lord’s “school of discipleship” at Fountain Gate College where Dr. Fuchsia Pickett was not only the President of the Bible College but also the senior pastor of Fountain Gate Church in Plano, Texas. Later, Barbara taught and served as Dean of Women and Dean of Student Affairs. As a minister-on-staff, she became co-pastor under Dr. Sam Sasser.
Barbara took four computer classes in the early ‘90’s from Collin County Community College in Plano prior to receiving the Lord’s vision of a website to encourage women in their place and relationship with their husbands as well as their place in the Body of Christ at-large and the local or house church. That vision came after having found the tremendous book she thought was out-of-print – God’s Word to Women by Katharine Bushnell. Presently, she partners with Gay Anderson of Eagle Lake, Texas in the God’s Word to Women website.
She is married to Phil Collins, and this union caused them to become parents to three boys – Steve, Jeff, and Byron who have now given them nine grandchildren. Jeff is a prophetic evangelist and ministers in Europe and the Middle East for six months each year with his family based on the island of Cyprus with Gateways Beyond, a Messianic-Jewish ministry.
